Taita Taveta Wildlife Conservancies Association (TTWCA) is a membership organization governed by its member conservancies through an elected TTWCA Council and Board of Directors. The Council and the Board are supported by the Advisory Body and the Secretariat united in the quest to transform livelihoods through effective and sustainable management of natural resources in the Taita Taveta-Tsavo landscape.
The TTWCA Council
The TTWCA council oversees the performance of the organization, elects the nine members that make-up the Board of Directors and ratifies any major decisions made by the Board as well as approves plans and budgets and ensures effective representation of all members.
The TTWCA Council is made-up of representatives from all our member conservancies, with every member conservancy having three seats each in the TTWCA council.
The Board of Directors
The Board of Directors establishes policy for the organization and provides guidance that helps our members thrive.
The TTWCA members elect the members of the Board every three years through the TTWCA Council.
The TTWCA Board comprises nine members of the TTWCA council, including the Chairperson, and four ex-officio members, namely:
- one representative from the county government docket in charge of environment and natural resources
- one representative from the county government docket in charge of livestock
- one member of the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS)
- The TTWCA CEO
The Advisory Body
TTWCA benefits from a small, dedicated team of external advisors that forms the Advisory Board, selected by the Board of Directors and approved by the TTCWA Council.
The advisory board comprises a representative of Kenya Wildlife Conservancies Association (KWCA), the County Commissioner, a legal advisor and a select key strategic conservation partners.
The Secretariat
The TTWCA Secretariat is the executive organ of the organization. It is in charge of designing, delivering and monitoring TTWCA’s initiatives in partnership with stakeholders and providing the Board and the TTWCA Council with strategic recommendations.
The headquarter of the TTWCA Secretariat is located in the historical town of Voi, Taita Taveta County, Kenya.
