May, 13, 2025. As part of our 2024 Strategic Plan, the commitment to strengthening conservancy governance by fostering transparent, accountable, and effective leadership within conservancy boards is a strategic response to the growing need for well-managed conservancies that can deliver both conservation and community development outcomes.
We recently conducted an induction session for the newly elected Boards of Mbale, Dawida Conservancies, and Oza Community Land. The training covered key topics such as board responsibilities, compliance, conflict resolution, and the importance of separating governance from management roles.
Participants also identified shared challenges across the landscape, such as governance gaps, weak legal frameworks, and limited community involvement. However, with renewed knowledge and ongoing support from TTWCA, they are now better prepared to tackle these issues and promote ethical, inclusive leadership within their conservancies.
Together, we are building a stronger future for our community conservancies.
