Feb, 14, 2025. TTWCA’s member ranches and conservancies’ chairpersons convened for a pivotal meeting with the Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC) to explore funding opportunities, support programs, and strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the sustainability and profitability of their operations.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including H.E Andrew Mwadime, Governor Taita Taveta County, who in his remarks emphasized the economic potential of these ranches and conservancies.
We recognize the immense contribution of the ranches to our county’s economy. Plans are underway to integrate them into the county budget for sustainable growth.
Former Governor and the Agricultural Finance Cooperation (AFC) Chairperson, H.E. John Mruttu lauded the ranches for their strides in livestock production and urged them to tap into some of the available growth opportunities.
There are numerous funding options, not just from AFC but from other institutions as well. However, misinformation has long been a barrier, and it’s time we address this for our collective prosperity.
TTWCA Chairman, Mr. Bong’osa Mcharo highlighted the importance of professionalism in managing ranches.
We have made commendable progress in ensuring our ranches and conservancies are run by the right expertise, and this is key to effective operations.
On the other hand, Dr. Daniel Mwaringa, Chairperson of Coast Water Works also reaffirmed support for the ranches, highlighting water as a critical resource for their activities.
I look forward to working closely with these ranches and conservancies. My office is open for partnerships to mobilize resources and ensure water availability for sustainable operations.
As a key resolution, participants agreed to develop bankable proposals and business plans to drive resource mobilization, a crucial step toward their ventures’ success and long-term sustainability.
